What is an Umbrella company?

An Umbrella company provides a PAYE payroll that allows you to offset your expenses against your income, reducing your tax bill and increasing your take home pay.

As an employee of My Umbrella not only do you have the advantage of offsetting your expenses you also get full employment rights enabling you to qualify for statutory benefits including sick pay and maternity pay, My Umbrella will also hold your correct tax code to ensure you get taxed correctly on all your work even if you are working for multiple clients.


How much does the scheme cost?

My-Umbrella offer a flexible payroll processing charge, which is based on a flat rate, you will not be charged a percentage of your earnings.


Does it cost to Join or leave My Umbrella?

No, we do not charge to join My Umbrella we only charge when you get paid. If your circumstances change and you no longer need to use our service we won’t charge you to leave.


What do I need to register?

Complete the online application and one of our support team will contact you to ensure you understand the solution and ensure you are off-setting the correct expenses.


Do I need to send in my P45?

To make sure we pay you correctly on time every time we will need to see your P45 to ensure we have your correct tax code.


What if I do not have a P45?

If you have not yet received your P45 from your previous employer you can complete a P46, you can download a blank P46 from this website along with a guide to complete the form.


When will I receive my expenses?

You will not get your expenses paid back to you, you are offsetting the expenses you incur against your income, therefore reducing your tax bill.


How do I know when I have been paid?

You will receive a payslip via email once your payroll has been processed, so you will know what you have been paid before it reaches your account.


Am I covered by My Umbrella’s employment insurance?

Yes you are covered for the following insurance when working through My Umbrella:

Public Liability Insurance £10,000,000.00

Employers Liability Insurance £5,000,000.00


Will using My Umbrella affect my future pension or statutory benefits?

No, you will be making at least the National Minimum contributions to ensure that your statutory rights and pensions will not be affected.


Can I refer a friend to your service?

By completing the online form within your web portal you can refer a friend to My Umbrella and as a bonus you will receive £50* as a thank you.
